New Requirement for Parents/Guardians of Student Athletes (2026/27):

All parents/guardians of student athletes must complete the Positive Parenting within School Programs on the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) website. Upon successful completion, submit your certificate of completion to Ms. Lanette Johnson in the front office. Your student athlete may not compete until you submit your certificate.  Please include your signature on your certificate. 

In addition, your student athlete is still required to complete the Concussion Course for Students (NFHS) and submit their certificate of completion along with their completed physical forms also to Ms. Lanette Johnson in the front office.  Student athletes WILL NOT practice or compete until all requirements are met which includes maintaining academic eligibility.

Welcome to Wingate High School Athletics!

We are honored that you have chosen Wingate High School as your educational institution and are interested in participating in athletics. 

The Wingate High School Athletic Department is aware of the importance of athletics as part of a well-rounded educational experience. We have long known that the daily results of teamwork, preparation, participation, and hard work assist in developing positive character traits in our students. The lifelong message we are able to deliver involves values such as respect, responsibility, fairness, trustworthiness, caring, citizenship, and accountability. Participation in high school athletics and activities is often a predictor of success in life, whether it's in college, a career, and most importantly becoming a contributing member of society. Our athletic staff thrives to build on this foundation every day, turning teachable moments into building positive attitude, character, effort, and team spirit.

Beyond the many successes we have had in these top programs, our athletic programs offer a wide range for our students and there is always something for them to do when they attend Wingate High School.

  • Track & Field

Admission at the door. $6 Adults, $4 Students & Elders, 5 and younger Free for Volleyball, Football, Wrestling, and Basketball.
