Family Involvement in Education

Family involvement is critical to student academic success. Parents and guardians should remain involved in their child’s education throughout high school and until graduation. When parents and guardians are involved in their child’s academic performance and progress, they ensure the student is prepared for graduation and beyond. This involvement also opens communication and promotes lifelong learning habits.

Residential Program

The Wingate High School Residential Program is building a strong foundation for the future of our Navajo Nation. Our program includes dedicated faculty, staff, specialists, administrators and community members who work with students and families to develop effective learning strategies. The school-student-family partnership is essential for success throughout the learning process.

Lifelong learning strengthens individual families and the entire community, and students receive the extra support they need through graduation. As a team and community, we prepare our Navajo leaders, problem solvers and critical thinkers. All students need guidance and protection as they advance to graduation and beyond. We invite Navajo families and community members to stay connected and involved in learning. Our students will continue to reach their highest potential with consistent family and community involvement.

Opportunities for Family Involvement

Parents and guardians are a student’s greatest asset for their success in high school and beyond. Families can help students by improving literacy at home through reading initiatives, book fairs and increasing household libraries.

We also provide many opportunities throughout the school year for families to connect with our school community:

  • Monthly Parent Meetings and Training: Join us for sessions aimed at helping you support your child's education.
  • Open House: At the beginning of the school year, visit our campus, meet the teachers and learn about our programs.
  • Dorm Information Sharing: For families with students in dorms, we provide important information and updates.
  • Family-Community Connections: Attend school board meetings and other events to stay informed and engaged with our school community.
