School Information

Students in the Native Foods class at Wingate High School are building practical cooking skills while learning about the importance of traditional foods. They recently practiced how to mix dough and make tortillas by carefully following a recipe. The hands on lesson gives students the chance to build confidence in the kitchen and work together. Throughout the semester, the class has explored a wide range of Indigenous foods, their nutritional value, and their cultural significance. Students are also developing food preparation and service skills that support healthy habits and honor their community’s traditions.
